World Cup 2022: Brazil dropped a statement victory by Beating Korea 4-1 to progress to the quarter finals

 Day 3 of the round of 16 of the ongoing 2022 Fifa world cup in Qatar has just concluded.

Today featured two matches just like the previous days. The first match was between Japan and Croatia while the second one was between Brazil and South Korea.

Japan vs Croatia

This game was played at the Al Janouh stadium and it kicked off at 15:00 GMT. It ended 1-1 at the end of 120' minutes. Croatia then secured qualification via penalties.

Japan missed their three spot kicks of the four they played. The culprits are Yoshida, Mitoma and Minamino.

Croatia took advantage of Japan's misses to progress to the quarter finals of this world cup tournament. Atalanta playmaker, Mario Pasalic stepped up and scored Croatian's last and desisive penalty, and shuttered Japan's hopes of reaching the quarter finals for the first time in their history.

Brazil vs South Korea

This match was played at the stadium 974 and it kicked off at 19:00 GMT. It ended 4-1 in favour of the selecao. The goal scorers for the selecao are 'Poster Boy' Neymar, Richarlison, Vinicius Junior and Lucas Paqueta. Neymar was playing his first game after returning from the injury he picked up in Brazil's second group game but he showed his class. He scored one and assisted another.

South Korea managed to pull one goal back in the second half, courtesy of Seung- Ho Paik, but it was just a mere consolation.

Before the start of this game, Brazil were touted by football fans to comfortably win and they didn't disappoint. Korea were not given a chance.

This result means Brazil have progressed to the quarter finals of the ongoing world cup in Qatar. They will face Croatia, who also qualified today.

After the final whistle was blown, the selecao gathered and held up a banner of the legendary Pele. This acts was to pay tribute to him.
