The tricky cherries

The English premier league is not a good place for newly promoted teams. Majority of them get relegated only after their first season.

This trend makes pundits and football lovers label newly promoted teams as relegation contenders even before a ball is kicked.

To commence, Bournemouth were also greeted with this chant after climbing up to the league this season. The chants even became loud after they failed to add some new faces to their squad during the transfer window. Then coach Scott parker also publicly said his side were underequipped for this level, though they managed to maintain the core of the team that was relegated three seasons ago under Eddie Howe. Notable names are captain Loyd Kelly, chris mepham, Dominic solanke, lewis cook, and star midfielders Jefferson lerma and Philip Billing.

In addition, the three loses in their first four games, including the 9 - 0 humiliation at the hands of Liverpool made the early predictions seemed true. But since they sacked Scott parker and appointed the inexperienced Gary O 'Neil, the cherries' fortunes have turned around. They have not recorded a single loss in the six games under him so far. They have managed to beat teams like Leicester and Nottingham forest among others. What is even interesting is they had to score three goals in the second half to overcome the 2 - 0 first half deficit against the latter.

Last but not least, this team has shown every virtue. From their fighting spirit to defensive solidarity and to creating and finishing chances. How Gary O'Neil has tactically drilled this team is shocking, as this is his first job in management. His team currently occupies the 9th position after 10 games. I think this feat is impressive.

To conclude, I personally think, unless there is a dramatic change, they look on course to survive.
