When outfield players where Goalkeepers

Players giving advice to goalkeepers when their is a set piece has become rampant in modern football. Anytime i see this, i remember moments players had to go into goal to salvage difficult situation like injuries and suspension. In this article I will give you names of some of these players.

To start with, John Terry formerly of Chelsea and England. On the 14th of October 2006, John Terry was put in between the sticks after injuries to first team goalkeepers petr cech and Carlo cudiccini, in a premier league match against reading. He went on to keep a clean sheet for the remainder of the game, as Chelsea won by a lone goal to nil. It was an eventful match that saw two red cards, severe injuries and an own goal. It was in this game that cech injured his skull that made him wear a protective head gear for the rest of his playing career. Cudiccini was also strechted off. It was an eventful match indeed.

To continue, Kyle walker of England and Manchester city. In November 2019, Kyle walker was put in goal after Claudio bravo, who came on as a second half substitute for Ederson Moraes, saw red in City's champions league match against Atalanta Begamo. He, just like his compatriot Terry, went on to keep a clean sheet for the remainder of that game, which ended one goal at piece. It seems England's outfield players are also very good at goalkeeping, considering Terry and Walkers exploits. The latter's exploits happened not long ago and I think we all can remember.

Again, Cosmin Morti formerly of Romania and Ludogorets Razgrad. Cosmin Morti was trusted into goal after first choice keeper saw red, during Razgrad's champions league tie against steau buccuresti in 2014. The match eventually went to extra time and then to penalties. Morti, who plays central defense scored his penalty and saved two from buccuresti players. His heroics earned his team a place in the group stages of the champions league for the fist time in their history. This heroics didn't go unnoticed as a reconstructed stand, "the Morti stand" was named after him in 2015.

Last but not least, Chaker Alhadhur of Comoros and Ajaccio. The left back was trusted into goal in Comoros' knockout game against Cameroon in the 2022 African Cup of Nations. This happened as, the first choice and the reserved goalkeepers were out through injuries and Covid respectively. Though they lost 2 - 1, he managed to make four saves, including a double save to deny Vincent Aboubakar and Nicholas Ngameleu a clear goal. I personally think he was impressive, as they could have lost by a bigger margin without his exploits. Fifa has also inducted his jersey into their museum, as a sign of honour for his heroics.

Finally, there are other instances where player were trusted into goal but I thinks these ones I have brought to you are the best.
